so, HEY. i think alex was shortchanged in the measly five minutes he was given in dofp. therefore, i really want to play him. i'd like to explore his time with charles ( how he learned to control his powers and mature omg ) until the time he was drafted ( i'm thinking ~1968 ). uh, additionally what happens after the events of dofp. does he go back to charles? does he become a drifter, shunning both charles and erik? does he band together with the mutants from vietnam and hang with them? i'm kind of creating a headcanon where, when he returns home, he develops ptsd from his war experience. as a result, alex has troubles controlling his powers and must relearn discipline.

on another note, i have a mcu au. if that should happen to interest anyone, great.

Yeah! You're welcome! I was going through your character journals last night. I love Jane's journal, especially the visualosities. And the wealth of information that is on Howard's journal is great. He's one of my favorite characters and I hardly see anyone playing him, and definitely not with that amount of background information.

well thank you very muchly dude. i'm a historian so not providing and thinking of at least a little background for a character is blasphemy. (and i can only imagine how much more history i'd have for howard if i wasn't so lazy and uh... absentminded.)

You're welcome. Ahh okay. That makes sense. I love the concrete details. They enrich the work. I have a degree in creative writing, but I supplemented my degree with literature, art, and history classes. I feel I am like I am a better writer for it. When I was writing an XMFC!Raven, I had her reading African American lit, specifically work related to passing. I thought Raven would be able to relate. I get a thrill to include bits like that. I need to broaden my research for Charles. So far, I have him coming from the emotional viewpoint--a man whose world and ways are imploding around him. It's a fascinating character study. That's what XMFC is for me. I don't think Singer did with the XMFC chars what Vaughn would have. Vaughn would have let them breathe--that's where all the quirky details about them come from. Like Charles hitting on the co-ed. That wasn't plot so much as a character point. Give me all the quirky character bits!

So I am still processing your Howard post. You're making me step up my game. I love that. :-D I need a lot of Howard Stark in my life. He's one of my all time favorite characters in anything. And probably in no small thanks to Cooper himself. I saw The Devil's Double. That man is magnificent.

it's easier to do it with characters that have little to no history (such as howard and, though it might be pushing it, alex). oh? in that case, if you're looking for charles xavier related research, might i recommend graham greene's "the power and the glory." the book might skirt along the lines of pre-dofp!charles, but i think the main character (the unnamed "whiskey priest") shares many traits in common with charles. eh, i didn't really notice a difference between vaughn and singer tbh. and to be frank, with a plot this size, i didn't expect too many character points and study.

I am always looking for research material. :) I'll pick that up. Thank you! It was the subtle things that I noticed were missing. Or the not so subtle like nobody touching. I wanted more comforting. However, I can also see the choice for no touching illustrates the distance there is between Charles, Erik, and Raven. They started being removed from one another and they ended that way too.

Well, I just got it back to you. :D I had started on it earlier today and just added the finishing touches.

I would love to play with you, here or in the AU. I think Alex and Peter were the two characters who were shortchanged the most, underutilized. Sadness. I also loved the look that he shared with Raven before they were separated. I would love to see how the two of them could play out.

I am going to keep playing my DoFP!Charles as I think that's an interesting perspective to play him under--even if his movie leaves a bit to be desired--but I got MY Charles back who I thread with and we are doing some AU action after XMFC cause, like you said, Alex was shortchanged. Would that interest you?
