In my headcanon for Charlie, she has no room in her life for dating. She moves too much, the Shop is persistently after her so she's always on the go. And she's closed off. She doesn't like other people getting close because there is always the chance that the Shop will find her and hurt people she cares about.
So my thinking is, she stayed in one place long enough to meet a guy who chipped away at and almost entirely broke through her defenses. Enough so that they were suddenly inseparable. She even started living with him. Things were perfect but then she got the feeling the Shop was closing in so she vanished in the night. No word. No nothin'. Severed all contact. That was three years ago when Charlie was seventeen. She's now twenty, hasn't seen or spoken to the guy and I'd love to have them run into each other again and for him to be mad at her disappearing act even though she's never told him about the Shop.
Just an idea rattling around my head. Thank you in advance.
