I always imagined Sherlock's boredom could easily push him over the edge and his somewhat detached views on people would make it fairly easy for him to walk over them or do away with them. I can easily see him killing his boredom through playing games with people in his own way.
Oh that's rather ingenious, I never would of pictures him in a Mycrort role but the more I think about it, the more it kind of fits. Especially if he perhaps didn't completely ruin his military career. I'm sure someone who went to Eton and Oxford has his foot in the door of a few useful places.
