I have just absolutely fallen in love with Carol Danvers and I would love to have some people to play with. I'd love to see some Avengers from the movie to bounce off of, but really, anyone she can talk to about saving people/kicking ass/being a superhero/being a pilot would be lovely.

Keeping this simple with friendship and general ass-kicking is fine by me. If you'd be interested in shipping I am totally open to it, but certainly won't force it.

She has a great short bio right here if you're not familiar with her.

Aw, not a problem. You're totally welcome.

Oh, totally. Were you thinking of playing her closer to comic canon or were you going to go a little MCU with her? Going MCU might give you a lot more flexibility just because you can kind of work her around and let those you play off of form the connections rather than worrying about decades of backstory. I am really flexible and kind of play off both depending on who I'm playing off of, but on paper my Jan's been MCU-ified just because I hate the direction the comic is going with her right now and everyone I was threading with at the time was more familiar with the films. POINT BEING: if you wanted to go MCU, we could just figure out how they know each other! I can explain where Jan fits into things and we could go from there? IDK. /Rambly, sorry! ^^;;

Everything looks good to me! I've thought a ton about how Janet and Henry fit into the MCU and I kind of view the MCU as being a LOT broader than the film rights allow, so while Ant-Man will eventually undo a lot of what I came up with, I'm not worrying about that now because, lol, we've got years until Ant-Man. (Plus, we still don't know who the Ant-Man movie will actually be about.)

Because of that, I kind of have Henry becoming Ant-Man early on. Like, if I were to write Ant-Man, the film wouldn't be an origin story -- it would be a coming out of retirement story. I haven't nailed down his origin story, because I don't play him, but...

(And here, again, I have to apologize because I totally ramble.)

My headcanon is basically that Janet's father is one of the men who originally founded S.H.I.E.L.D., and really, it makes sense because Tony and Janet would have grown up in the same social circle and their parents would have known each other. It would have been a group of wealthy, powerful, intelligent men and with Vernon's interest in aliens, he would be a great candidate. Janet's NOT aware of this, but a lot of people are brought into her life because of this. Point in case: Vernon takes Henry Pym under his wing, trying to bring him into the fold at S.H.I.E.L.D., and pretty quickly he and Janet hit it off and begin dating. I hate the almost misogynistic, but admittedly dated origin story they gave Janet, so it's not falling in love at first sight with a stranger in the heat of the moment. (You know, like when she should be grieving her father who obviously meant so much to her that she underwent an untested genetic procedure to avenge his death.)

They date for a few years, get engaged, but they're kind of the settled, boring ol' married couple type even early on. Vernon is murdered and I've yet to decide how, because alien blob monster DOES NOT work in the MCU, but we'll just assume it may have had to do with his connection to S.H.I.E.L.D., but this causes Henry to take up the Ant-Man gig again and once Janet figures out what she's up to, it's kind of a "YOU HAVE TO LET ME DO THIS. I HAVE TO AVENGE MY FATHER AND IF YOU DON'T HELP ME, I'LL FIND SOMEONE WHO WILL. STOP BEING SELFISH AND SHARE YOUR PYM PARTICLES." type deal. They go on to do the superhero thing for awhile because it's EXCITEMENT and Janet WANTS TO BE A SUPERHERO AND DO ALL THE GOOD THINGS!! buuuuut then Janet gets shot, almost dies, and that's the end of that.

They settle into their boring new lives, Janet gets serious about fashion design, kind of becomes this overnight success, and meanwhile Henry's floundering. The pressure starts to get to him, he starts to snap, and eventually it gets to a point where neither of them can take the fighting anymore. They get divorced, Janet does what Janet does best and keeps getting better and eventually they find their way back to each other, but it doesn't last.

During Thor, Erik Selvig mentions that he has a friend who dealt with S.H.I.E.L.D. and while his name was never revealed, the claim is that the friend is Henry Pym. I figure, at some point, Henry has another little issue come up, S.H.I.E.L.D. gets involved, he's stuck between a rock and a hard place, and Nick Fury eventually talks him into at least WORKING with them. Janet comes along for the ride. I kept little details from the comics, like I have that she and Henry were on the scene when they pulled Steve out of the ice and IDGAF I'm keeping that she named the Avengers. She also helped redesign Captain America's uniform. (Food for thought: Janet designed the Ms. Marvel costume in the comics. ;))

But honestly, based on what you have for Carol, there's a good chance that Carol and Janet are old friends through Janet's father (NASA could have had a contract with his company) or they just hit it off once they met through S.H.I.E.L.D.

GOD THIS WAS THE LONGEST COMMENT EVER.

Awwww, no, no, no! I've honestly been thinking about this since the Avengers came out in theaters last year. I've had a ton of time to think about it and it's still not even close to perfect. The unfortunate part about picking up a character with so much history, like Carol, you really have to pick and choose what you keep. Personally, I think if they do eventually introduce Carol into the MCU, they'll probably go with Captain Marvel. At least I hope they do.

No worries, though. Take all the time you need. :)

Calling her "Ms. Marvel" would be funny, like, coming out of the mouth of a smartass bad guy who's just trying to piss her off, but yeah. I definitely hope they just make her Captain Marvel from the get go in the MCU.

That totally works for me. I'm horrible with coming up with ideas on the spot, but I'm sure I can work with whatever. I'm sure you'll do great with her, though, so don't worry too much! :3
