When we first meet Sitwell he's dedicated to the job, very loyal to his fellow agents, and compassionate about doing the right thing. Then CA:TWS came and turned everything upside down.

Least to say, I was a bit upset since I was quite a fan of his 616 counterpart when he showed up in the old, old Iron Man comics as SHIELD liaison to Stark Industries. I remember him as an adorkable agent that was dedicated, loyal, and very passionate about his job even when he got the short end of the stick in operations. Anyway, my ridiculous feels aside the point here is that I'd like to explore possible "fixes" to his double agent role revealed in CA:TWS. A few ideas in mind are to either have him working as a triple agent for Fury, trying to uncover what Fury feared and stepping into something large he couldn't get out of, or as having been brainwashed into working for Hydra at some point during his career as a dedicated agent of SHIELD.

If anyone's willing to play with the character in this AU capacity I'd be really grateful. What I would really love to play out would be Sitwell's initial reemergence into the world and getting back into SHIELD (err, what's left of it). The whole trying to regain trust and explaining his role to those that thought him a betrayer... I would like to explore that line. And going from there however the characters see fit would be exciting to see. Getting him in touch with Coulson's team would also be a big plus, but it'd be fun to have him mingle with all the other MCU characters, too. Especially any CA:TWS characters.

For anyone interested in having a completely canon compliant Sitwell in their midst, I'm willing to play out the bad guy version of him, too. I may be a bit disappointed in that betrayal to his character but I sure as heck can play around with that facet of him as well and have a bit of fun~

Sitwell is one of my favorites! I was pretty upset too but I understand why they did it.

I'd definitely love to do something with him.

Understanding why doesn't make me feel any better. They could have at least left him alive. :c

I was so sad when I saw that turn with Sitwell, too! He was one of my favorites! I love your AU idea, and I don't know how this jerk would come into play with Sitwell, but I'd be glad to run with your AU idea someway or another. Blonsky has been under his own sort of AU since before Coulson's offhanded comment in AoS. I can play with that AoS angle too, but anything you're up for doing, I'd like to offer some CR (for better or worse) to run with your AU.

So the short and sweet of it is that after Sitwell and Coulson sabotage the addition of Blonsky to the Avengers, Ross loses the fight to keep custody over him and Blonsky is sent back (unconscious) to England. He wakes up, gets rehabilitated and goes out on missions again.

I don't know but this thread has already taken on a mind of its own it seems, and I am totally down with it. Sitwell is scared shitless, lmao, but this is good. I like it.

That it has and I am very excited to see where it takes us. I think I will be keeping more to the idea that Blonsky's been in cryo since Harlem, it makes more sense for him to be around in that case. Poor Sitwell.

My headcanon is that he rolled out of the way and is still alive. I could have blinked at that part during the movie, but NO. I don't think I did.

If there's anything Sharon can do, I'd be happy to help. After all, Sitwell was Tony's liaison for years in 616, and Sharon was Steve's. MCU-wise, they both at least know Natasha, and Fury ordered Sharon to protect Steve directly. I theorize that she also joins the CIA because Fury gets in touch and tells her to. And possibly smooths things over to get her in faster for reasons of his own.

Headcanons. Let's rock them.

Oh man, I want to know more about Sharon. I have been interested in her since she was rumored to be coming to the MCU but I honestly know next to nothing about her. Also I really like how Natasha keeps trying to get Steve to "hook up" with her. 'Cause let's face it, Natasha totally knows who she is and wants Steve to find out. Right? Right??

But most of what I have for her in MCU is headcanon. She's Peggy's niece, obviously. I play her as not having a crush on Steve, or at least, if there's anything to build on, nothing she would admit to. She admires him, sure, but she's not going to move on Steve because of Peggy.

I think Sharon's been training to be an agent for years before she was 18, and Peggy likely helped her with tips about training and such. Maybe she met Fury before she went to SHIELD, but I figure Fury knows her/the Carters well enough to be assured of her loyalty.

I also figure she spars with Natasha, but I haven't run that by any Natasha players.

SO. It's been a while since I saw the movie. Sitwell's the one who announced that Cap was now guilty of treason, right? And Sharon called him out on it. He was about to respond when Pierce cut him off... What if Fury has got them together before, maybe to have Sharon ferry messages or something, and that was one of the ways Sitwell was trying to tell Sharon what HYDRA was up to, but Pierce cut him off before he could tell her more? Like, he was going to talk to her directly about the mission, but Pierce interrupted too soon.

Maybe HYDRA was even starting to suspect he was a triple agent?

Yeah, it was totally a lie that Natasha only pretends. /sage nod

That's basically it. Sitwell initiated the manhunt on Cap without explanation and Sharon called him out on that lack of information on why they were hunting Cap of all people. Then Pierce smoothly steps in to answer the question before Sitwell can even make an attempt and things go from there. That said, I am totally down for interpreting Sitwell's look of unease in that moment as him trying to figure out a way to covertly tell Sharon what was going on for the sake of this AU canon we've got going on here. In which case: damnit, Pierce, fuck off so he can confide in his buddy.

That last fits quite well. Sitwell says "oh god, he (Pierce) is going to kill me" and it'd be lovely to interpret that as an "oh god he knows I'm a fake" instead of a weak link in Hydra's forces.

In any case, where would you like to start? Mid-movie or post-movie? I figure we could either expand on them working together during the fiasco or move straight into them meeting back up after the whole ordeal.

Yeah, and- OH. Maybe he had to pretend to be scared to tell them because Natasha had already told him that Steve can't lie to save his life. And that's why Natasha seems so irritated/bored. Because it's such a waste of time, but if they don't go along with the act, Steve will know that Fury suspected HYDRA had infiltrated SHIELD all along, and they need Steve to trust Fury.

Poor, poor Sitwell.

Do you want to start, like, right after the movie? That would be enough time for him to be taken to a hospital, and then Sharon can either find him or he can track her down once he gets out?

Well, if he was too hurt to flee the scene while he had the chance and medical personnel got to him to take him to a hospital... he'd escape the first chance he got. Being a part of SHIELD/Hydra would not look good to the authorities, and he really doesn't want to end up in jail (or worse) so he'd leave asap despite his injuries. Go immediately into hiding.

If you want, they could have a mutual safe-house that he could flee to and run into her there. Or something.

No, it's okay! It actually made sense, and actually I had to rephrase my reply when I realized how much sense it made because he probably wouldn't have been moving much if at all after that hit. And really the only reason I thought of him being on the run is because in AoS they're on the run from the military personnel that want to detain and question them. Sitwell probably has it slightly worse since most of SHIELD wouldn't take kindly to his reappearance, too.

All right. Is there any place specific you prefer to play, or a way you'd like it started, or--since I had just posted it the same day as this--would you just want to hit up this? The surgery is scheduled for Monday, so after that, I should be on the road to getting better.

It's my own fault for slipping in the shower. The good news is that my bathtub now has a name - HYDRA.

And it turns out headbutting HYDRA isn't enough to beat it down. We'll see how the sledgehammer and blowtorch do.

I'd be very interested in playing around as well! My only concern is the same reason it took me so long to reply: I haven't been able to keep up with my tags lately. I don't want to make any promises even though I'm still really interested in the AU(s) for this guy. I love him so. ;;

I keep meaning to start posting in memes - but again, I can look at them on my phone, but it's such a pain to post on it, and once I'm at a computer... well, it doesn't help that I have the attention-span of a gnat.
