The game I have him in is a horror game (with tons of comic book characters, I might add) set in the Greek version of the Underworld where a vengeful, crazy goddess regularly torments them. The game itself has a pretty even balance between player-driven and mod-driven plots. If that sounds like your cup of tea, I'd love to have castmates!

Either way, I'm just really interested in playing out and exploring relationships with Spider-man characters, and getting to explore Harry's character through them. Maybe even end up fleshing out a whole new story. He ends up being taken from the second movie by default where he's pre-Goblin but still bitter about everything, but I'm definitely interested in playing him out as the Goblin as well. I love conflict as much as I love character development, and since he never got the opportunity to be a real villain in canon, I'd really enjoy playing that aspect of him, too.

I have a TASM1 Peter if you want him? I've been wanting an excuse to play him, except I haven't seen the second TASM, so I wasn't pressing it yet.

But seeing Harry makes me want to rewatch those old Spiderman movies.

Oh, that'd be awesome! I haven't actually seen the second one yet either, so no worries there, but if you want to work out an AU where we can mesh the two Spidey universes together somehow, or even just AU this Harry into TASM canon (or vice versa) somehow, I'd be good with that.

I am biased, so of course I say: yes, do it.

I also have this, too. I was bumming around on Netflix instead of watching the movies and found the cartoon. There are too many awesome universes.

But we can mesh them together if you want! TASM and the older movies. Using this Harry and Peter, maybe meeting while Peter's in college? I can age him up a little. Any particular way that you prefer to do it?

That'd be cool! The meeting while they're in college thing sounds pretty nice, actually. Maybe we can play out them meeting and just sort of go from there? I figure that might be a good way to get the ball rolling and see what ideas pop up. I always have a hard time pre-emptively coming up with plots, I'm a little better at winging it, unfortunately sob.

Oh, that's very cool! I fell in love with that cartoon. It's already introduced me to a ton of characters I don't know, so I love it all the more for it. Now I am going to go want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on comixology. So the show did it's work! And I would love any icons you could make! I made the 5 I have so far, but icons take me forever to do. I just started episode 1x10 so I am still way early on, but I've gotten through a ton today (And I still have 3 more days of my vacation!)

But yes, that sounds good. Similar classes, or just meeting on campus? Or maybe Gwen could introduce them, idk. Or they meet at the lab for one reason or another? There are a lot of possibilities for that first meeting. Then classes can keep them talking? But yes, I like the idea of just seeing what happens. Any Goblin plot can happen later~ After the build up!

First of all, holy crap, thank you for the paid time for the other Harry! That was such a sweet thing to wake up to. I wish I could do more for you than make icons right now! But now I'll make extra sure to crank out a bunch for you to choose from. c:

Likewise! It's just so much fun, and there's a lot of interesting stories. I have... a huge backlog of things to watch and read now for that same reason lmao. I have a lot of resources as far as icons go and I love making them (and hunting for fantastic expressions, not gonna lie, and Peter's got a lot of them), so this should be fun. They're kind of addictive, aren't they? I ended up speedwatching them after I was introduced, too! 1x11 was my first episode, and I thought it was so awesome that I had to go watch everything else.

There are a lot of possibilities! Hmm... Having similar classes sounds good! Maybe Harry ends up in one of Peter's science classes, they end up being lab partners, and Harry's just like, "/stares hopelessly at assignment. I'm only in this class because the school made me. Help." That seems like a fun way to have them meet, what do you think? And that works for me!

That would be a dream come true, getting together a whole Spidey crew! I'm still incredibly excited to see Otto. He's my favorite right after the Osborns and I don't think he gets enough love. I have really been enjoying your tags so far. :)

Yeah, I'm enjoying playing him, but I think I'd enjoy even more if he was in a comm with a longer overarching plot and room for linear character development. On the other hand most comms like that require activity checks, and as crazy as my work schedule has been the past few months, I'm very reluctant to commit to that. What I'd like and what I can find time for don't quite match up I guess.

So! That said, I totally understand slow threading. I get excited every time I see a reply, but I'm also not mad at others for taking a long time to reply because I know how life gets in the way. I've been on both sides of that.

That's kind of my thing, too. I do better when I can have an on-going storyline. I know what you mean about activity checks, too. The game I'm in has really easy activity and sometimes I still struggle to meet the criteria. I ended up having to take a hiatus this month. Howeeever, I've been thinking about starting up a sandbox-y no activity check kinda game lately for exactly that reason, so maybe we could come up with something. And if all else fails, we could always just have a PSL with Harry and Otto where we can have a plot and character development to your heart's content.

I'm really thankful for that! I always worry since a lot of the RP community is really fast-paced and I don't want people to get bored waiting, especially the ones I love writing with. I'm usually pretty patient and will backtag into eternity in return.

Yeah, I kind of want a Marvel cinematic comm, one that's willing to blend all the movies together in one sandbox despite the intellectual property right divisions. Something with a nod to the comics, but not dependent on deep and extensive comic book knowledge to play in. I don't think such a comm currently exists? Of course SHEILD being an ongoing series and every release of a new movie might make things slightly awkward...

Sorry I took so long to reply there, wanted it to be something worthy. I do seem to be running into some Marvel char players (yourself included) who are heavy on the narrative and it's wonderful! Well worth the wait between replies.

I don't think it does either, though I think it's a great idea. It might not be too hard to work with, though, since Marvel has been really into bringing different universes together these days. I don't see why that couldn't be the case here. It'd just be more a matter of coming up with an excuse for why other universes are getting sucked into the main MCU timeline.

No worries, it gives me something to look forward to! Especially with all this school craziness, it's nice just to have an awesome tag or two waiting for me when I'm done. I'm always happy to play with others who love narrating their tags, myself. It's a lot of fun kind of... getting to look into someone else's character's thoughts and motives, and how they play them.

I'll admit that I'm hesitant myself, since the MCU fandom seems a bit intimidating, and my area of expertise lies strictly with Spider-Man (and the Amazing Spider-Man films as well). I only know enough about everything else to squeak by, so I don't think I'd be the most qualified to moderate. What about you?

He's going to be a terrible influence on Harry and by terrible, I mean wonderful. That is some fantastically dastardly plotting on Otto's part.

My last experience attempting to moderate a comm was... unsuccessful. Spectacularly. Mostly nobody seemed to actually want to play anything. At all. People joined up and then immediately ceased paying attention, and it kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.

That said, my familiarity with the Marvel universe is pretty solid, if not detailed. I don't buy comics these days, too many bills, but I grew up on X-Men and branched out and bought whatever caught my interest. In college I had a old buddy who was one of those guys with the bi-monthly comics day because the shop pulls a copy of the new releases of half a dozen titles for them the day those come in. Through him I was introduced to Deadpool the day the very first issue came out, and he let me borrow everything and anything else he had. Yeah, that guy was awesome... So my Marvel knowledge is very broad, but not always up-to-date. I have not seen the Amazing Spider-man movies, or the SHIELD Tv series.

Thanks! The thread with Harry is really the first chance I've had to play out some nefarious plotting. On the one hand, movie Otto has some striking differences from the comic version. On the other hand I can see him going down a similar path, and I'm heavily borrowing from 616 comic version to fill in the gaps. He doesn't have as much backstory as Harry does, since he's only in the one movie.

I know the feeling, my last attempt at modding wasn't very successful either. That doesn't mean we can't still figure something out, though. I think it's a great idea.

That is awesome! It looks like we could balance each other out, then. I try to branch out to other Marvel things, but I'll be honest, my interest is terribly biased towards Spidey stuff. I have a friend that is a walking comic book encyclopedia, though, so I tend just to ask her to fill me in on stuff if I get lost. I would like to say I watch Agents of SHIELD, but I don't pay very much attention when it's on, so I'm not sure my knowledge is all that adequate there either haha. I am a terrible Marvel fan sigh.

I noticed that! I thought that was really cool, and I always think it's fun to draw a bit from comics knowledge. If it helps, I have a bunch of books written in the Raimi universe, so if you want, I'd be happy to dig them out and send you anything interesting about Otto? I know sometimes novelizations of films can be inaccurate and wonky at times, but sometimes it helps give a better backstory and thought process to stuff. But yeah, I know what you mean. One of the things I love about Harry is that he's pretty morally grey. He's generally a good guy, but he can definitely be pushed (and is being pushed atm) in the other direction, and I'm so curious to see where he'll end up with this whole team-up with Ock.

We-e-ell, I got caught up in a thread with

parkerparkour last night, and then we started messaging OOCly, and now I'm thinking maybe a kind of sandbox where we could start with our Spiderman muses and possibly invite good Marvel players we feel comfortable with (I don't know any but you two, a Kitty Pryde, and my gf might be interested in playing Bruce Banner...). Anyways, it wouldn't be a comm so much as a place for psl between more than just two players, but it might give us the chance for plots beyond one thread and some character evolution. I referenced the thread we have going in the one with

parkerparkour and they were instantly interested and offered their char if we needed them to advance that idea.

I feel out of the loop for not watching Agents of SHIELD but I don't have cable and I have too wonky a schedule to keep up. I do plan to catch it sooner or later, probably via internet... but with all the characters from the show floating around I'd love to incorporate it anyway. I had a thread going with an agent May that was fascinating but they haven't replied in a couple days so we'll see if that's just slow threading or loss of interest...

I did buy the movie comic book recently, but I haven't seen the novelization. Were there more books beyond that?
I kind of feel like Doc Ock is at a point where he could almost go either way, but he's far more likely to be pushed into villainy, and he's bitter enough to embrace it. Also he is clearly a bad influence on Harry. XD

That sounds amazing! I would be totally cool with that. I was thinking invite only would be a good idea, but I didn't know if you wanted it to be open or not, but that seems like the best bet for being able to have fun with an ongoing plot without worrying so much if other people are going to participate or not. And for sure, if we end up needing Peter for our thread, I would be cool with that, too.

It's a neat show, don't get me wrong, and yeah-- I love May. She's a fantastic character. I just have a terrible attention span when it comes to TV shows. I hope that May replies to you, though. c: You'll have to let me know what you think when you watch it. Maybe I'll go back through and watch it a little more thoroughly one of these days myself.

Well, I have some junior novels that detailed Harry's rise to being the new Goblin and I had one about Venom once. I could have sworn Otto had one, too, I just need to look around. I have a lot of stuff. Otto also got some extra scenes in the Spider-Man 2 video game. So... Yeah, basically I just have way too much Spidey merchandise, but I wanted to learn as much about the Raimi universe as I could haha. That's one thing I found really interesting about Otto, for sure! I really enjoy villains that aren't inherently evil or that are more complex than just "Roar, blow things up, world domination!" And poor Otto got dealt a really crappy hand.

616/comic canon Otto is definitely a man who has given himself over to supervillain status wholly. I can see movie Otto going that way, but it would take a longer stretch of time and he has to feel pushed to it. The potential is there, though. Even before the accident, in movie Otto, I can see some of the arrogance and ego that are hallmarks of the character. He's definitely got more redeeming qualities, too though. I'm borrowing from the comics for his background, and in comic canon he got dealt a pretty crappy hand right from childhood. He has a quick temper because there's a lot of anger at the world, seething under the surface.

They're really good at flying under the radar. The Harry novel I got doesn't even show up when you search for it on Amazon, even though there are sellers for it. It's weird. I've been looking all over an Ock novel, but I can't find one that is strictly him and that would offer background in the same way, just a bunch that are very obviously for a much younger audience here. I'm not sure how useful those would be lmfao. And of course there's the graphic novel you mentioned before and the novelization.

Oh, yes. I have a 616 novel I was reading a few months ago where the Gentleman was gathering the Sinister Six for this really intense plot and the Gentleman was planning on stabbing them all in the back when the job was done and had offered everyone upgrades, namely Otto, so he could shut down his arms because he suspected him to be the biggest threat. But Otto had already caught on and figured him out, and started counter-plotting against him the entire time and just acted so incredibly exasperated that the Gentleman thought he was that stupid when he finally confronted him. It was beautiful and hilarious, and I love that Otto makes such a terrifyingly cunning villain, especially when he pulls out all the stops. So, needless to say, I'm really excited to see how your Otto pans out!

Movie Otto isn't exactly in full villain mode right now, but we'll see how that evolves. I think I'd like to take him in that direction, but in a definite slow fall. I'm thinking the thread we've got going looks like it's coming to a natural conclusion, which is okay since we have a comm up to continue that plot via later threads?

Well, if it helps, I can vouch for it being well-written, but as with any novelization, it does have some drawbacks, but it helps to give you good ideas! The writing in the Harry one wasn't great, but it had some great ideas and background that I decided to incorporate, so hopefully the novelization can do the same for you! Well written is worth a lot! My birthday is actually today, so I may do an Amazon shopping trip this afternoon! Even if I don't like everything in the portrayal of Otto, the novelization might give some useful insights. I have heard the actuators actually talk to him, in that.

I think I will do some little writing joining-up-bits later today, and post something in the comm with links to tie it all together. Would there be security on hand at the warehouse that Otto needs to sneak around to get there? A thread with them setting up would be fine, since the place hasn't been cleared out yet, Otto will be veeery interested in what's stored there already.

I'm trying to work out how to make that thread and the one I have going with Peter fit, because if that one happens a few days later, the next time Otto and Harry meet up he would probably give him a heads-up that Peter is looking for him... and knows that Otto is back from the dead. Oops.

Since it's been abandoned, not much, and it's probably been dressed up to look inconspicuous (like the pulse weaponry testing grounds I mentioned were hidden sorta underground-ish in a normal-looking warehouse) so Oscorp wouldn't have to worry about anyone getting too curious. The warehouse itself is probably locked up in a mundane fashion, with the entrance to the testing grounds being hidden by an elevator or a cliche bookcase/wall/panel trick or something like that that either he could have read about on the file or Harry would have told him. I mean... Shocker got in one of them without issue, so Ock won't have anything to worry about lol. But yeah, I'll come up with something that Oscorp may have been testing, unless you already had an idea!

Ah yes, that is a bit tricky! Shame on you, Otto. No, I kid, I'm cool with whatever! Harry will be giving him the stink face the entire time (probably the one in that icon there), but if you decide to do it that way, he'll probably reason that they could still use that to their advantage. Make Peter think Ock thought about what he said and wants to just talk/help, and then bam! Ambush and all the back-stabbing.

I was hoping we'd get some discussion on the ooc post I put up there, so we can all agree on a starting point or something.

I didn't have anything specific in mind, Otto just is going to be curious about whatever tech Oscorp has laying around, be it for bouncing off their ideas or scoping out what could be turned against him later on. As long as there's no actual guards there, he can have gotten security info from the laptop earlier and/or show off bypassing it to get in.

The whole pretending to listen to Peter thing is not a bad idea, and Otto just might be devious enough to try it. Later though, because the mention of Rosie kind of threw off any nefarious planning he may have thought of. Poor guy needs some closure on that issue still. His wife is a sore point.

Awesome, then I'll give an indication of what's in there. The awesome thing about the Spider-Man video games is that they give some pretty in-depth views of what goes on at Oscorp and the kind of technology they have, so I can have fun with that lol. Also, can I just say I am so pleased and amused that you/Otto noticed how piss poor Harry is at thinking things through when he's tunnel vision on something? Like... yes, let's give Otto tritium even though you know he can blow up half the city, and then let's throw half a dozen razor bats down a really tiny alleyway where they can come back and hit you. ALL TO KILL SPIDER-MAN. And now he's leaving his laptop open and crap and I'm just like, "Sigh. Oh, Harry. You're not going to earn Otto's respect this way." It's just sad because Harry can be smart when he applies himself (which is why I like to say he designed the suit and the new glider himself, he just has the stuff made somewhere else since he's obviously no scientist), but he gets so tunnel vision on one thing, he tends not to see the big picture haha. But yes, I got a good laugh out of Otto's remark in your post about how simple that was.

Otto is probably going to look down on Harry no matter what, and that's not Harry's fault. He is pretty convinced of his own intellectual superiority and that's nothing new. Also I have seen fics where the fusion reactor failed because either a) Harry gave him some kind of sub-standard tritium (does that somehow exist?) or b) a corporate espionage/mole in OsCorp effed with the final calculations the thing was built off of. Both those scenarios are people trying to prove Otto's idea was flawless, of course, which I'm not sure I totally buy anyways, but they are potential plotbunnies. Especially the mole in Oscorp one, because that could lead to trouble for Harry down the road.

Otto definitely needs some closure on Rosie's death. He may find it in bad ways, by blaming it all on somebody else, but, y'know. Supervillain?

I was working on a bigger full-body actiony movie Ock pic and I effed up, so it's on hold until I feel motivated enough to fix it with white paint and finish the inking.

Ohhh yeah, especially considering how, uh... ambitious Norman could be. I could see that being something he established after almost getting kicked out of his own company, and likewise, there are a lot of people who wanted/want to see Oscorp go out of business and would probably go out of their way to try and take it down from the inside.

And in chapter two, how to do an evil laugh as well as tips on how to monologue so that you inadvertently sabotage your own plans. :D

Aww, thanks! I've never found a way to make a living off it, but art is kind of what I do. I have this shiny graphic design degree I've never been able to make much use of beyond a little freelancing, and now I'm wishing I'd found a way to pursue illustration instead.

It's kind of a shame that Harry fails at running his father's company because he doesn't come by being cutthroat and devious naturally. Poor Harry, nice guy at heart who just happened to have a supervillain for a father, who had to then twist him around to his way of things. Anyways! Well, I sincerely hope you do! I know it's probably not my place to say, but even without a degree, I'd say send in portfolios and applications in to places that interest you if you haven't already. You never know! And yeah, art seems like an unfortunately hard field to get into. ): I am an artsy type myself, but I opted to go for a degree in web design since I'm too afraid that graphic design alone won't cut it and people always need coding done.

And just think, 616!Norman is even worse. That's probably what makes Harry one of my favorite characters, though. He's not inherently evil, but he ends up being kind of a wild card because he always seems to be pulled in so many directions. I love having a character with that much potential for so many different things, because it all depends on who he's around and the circumstances. And yes! Well thank you! I'm old enough now that I'm not sure I'm looking to start out a new career, but I don't know, maybe I should be... I really don't have any coding knowledge, I was mostly self-taught in html but what I know is so outdated now. I work at a veterinary clinic and do art in my free time, these days. 616!Otto is a bigger psychological train wreck than the movie version, with fewer redeemable qualities, although I can see an appeal to playing him, too. Harry is too much of a puzzle for me. Poor kid's practically got split personalities, but I guess that runs in the family...

I distinctly remember Otto doing at least one 'Hah!' when he got a hit in on Spidey, sort of a short bark of a laugh at success, but that's about it. He is not, I think, a maniacal laughter kind of guy. He's too calm and controlled for that, or at least wants to put on the appearance that he is.

I am of the opinion you should never stop pursuing stuff that makes you happy, and you obviously have a tremendous talent for it. Still, that's not a bad place to end up at all! And you're very right about that. I suppose only time will tell where I'll end up too. As for coding, I have extensive knowledge on HTML and CSS, and that was all self-taught through picking apart other peoples' codes. I'm trying to do that with some other languages now to prepare myself for some future classes. I imagine you can do the same! At the very least, it's very satisfying to be able to build your own code for funtiems.

He seems like he'd be a fun character, and I can tell the author of that 616!Spidey novel I was reading had fun writing him and some of the other Sinister Six, too. LOL! I laughed way harder than I should have at ridiculous o' clock in the morning, oops. Well, in all fairness to movie Norman, he wasn't really a psycho until he took the Goblin serum and at least he actually seems to care about his son. He's just... really blind to how much his expectations and distance have messed with him. Hopefully I do alright with him, though. I always worry about being too wishy-washy or poorly written, but I feel like I understand him pretty well. Maybe it just depends on the person, because I could never imagine being able to pull off Otto, but he seems to come to you effortlessly, and I'm so impressed!

Ah, that's right. In the bank! No, you're right, he's better at the snarky one-liners. The "Butterfingers!" thing still gets me whenever he drops Aunt May off a building. That was perfect.

I like art, but sometimes I find myself liking it less when I'm doing commissions and stuff, so I guess that's where my hesitation comes in these days. But thank you for all the compliments!

I really need to go buy that book... but yeah, I think we all latch onto characters because there's something there we identify with, some kind of hook, so it varies from one person to another what character they're drawn toward. I'm not saying I know what it is about Otto that's my hook, but he makes sense to me on a deeper level than the other characters, so there you go.

It is... Secret of the Sinister Six by Adam-Troy Castro. It's actually part of a series, but you don't have to read any of the others for it to make sense. You get adequate summaries of what's happened previously. I had a copy gifted to me without having read any of the others and I never got lost. You'll have to let me know if you ever read it! But yeah, I agree with you totally on that, about identifying with a character in some form or another that draws us to them, and it's actually pretty cool that someone else out there thinks the same way.

Yep! It's a novel. It's kind of its own original story that branches off from the 616 universe. So... it's not technically 616 canon, it's more like an AU. And yeah, there is tons of stuff out there. I'm always on the hunt for Spidey stuff, so I've been known to bump into obscure things sometimes.

True! I couldn't remember much wisecracking battles, it was mostly Otto doing most of it, but then, Peter spent much of his fights with Ock all, "AUNT MAY, NO. )8 MARY JANE, NO. )8" I can forgive him for that.
