IMO, Betty Ross is one of the coolest Marvel characters ever. I don't know if anyone really plays her much around here, but someone should. And that someone should PM me for PSLs. Posthaste. I'm thinking it'd be fun to write these two at different times, kind of skip around a bit -- bonding initially and with tons of awk and difficulty, volunteering for LSD experiments while they're at Harvard, hanging out/working together at Culver, interacting awkwardly as exes post-Avengers ... maybe some AU Red She-Hulk stuff? Mostly just them being regular, flawed people getting to know one another and then having to deal with the extraordinary circumstances they wind up in. Open to all sorts of plotting, -- and to different characterizations/interpretations of Betty. I won't be offended if you don't use Liv Tyler (--or Jennifer Connelly) as your PB (--Liv Tyler is awesome, though, just saying).

It'd also be fun to get some other MCU science-types together and thread out some time travel, dino cloning, sci-fi horror and nerdy adventures.

I would love for Jane and Bruce to get hurled through space-time together. Maybe because of unforeseeable alien interference with tech things, or a malfunction, whatever. We could go all Timeline and have them hiding from medieval warriors, ... or stick them in the Mesozoic, idk. Any time period, as long as it makes them horribly uncomfortable and allows for mortal peril :)

huh if i 'member correctly i did in fact have a betty ross account ages ago, but i stopped playing her due to inactivity and such. i don't know if i could pull her off, especially since she's a cellular biologist and um i'm very decidedly not. if i can think of an username for betty, i will definitely consider trying my hand at her. what is definite, however, is that i will have to rewatch the hulk movie and probably beef up my knowledge with hulk comics and cellular biology textbooks.

AND HULK OUT RIGHT? COS IT AIN'T NO TIME-TRAVELING ADVENTURE UNTIL BANNER HULKS OUT AND SCARES THE SHIT OUT OF EVERYONE. also, they should get involve with some history meddling and end up in the history books or myths. like... the hulk is one of the origin's of the werewolf myths or smth

WELL YEAH THAT'S WHY MORTAL PERIL IS A PREREQ. No time travel story involving Banner is complete without history meddling and Hulk myths. Plus that would give Hulk another one up on Loki, if his myths were cooler

no, i mean like — i love astronomy enough that i can feign knowledge of it, but my biology knowledge is so pathetic that i don't think i could. although i should just think of biology as astronomy but on a more miniscule level: we each have a universe within us, we're all made of star stuff. i'm willing to bet that if i did create a betty account the username would be cellular biology related (i'd most likely use tyler as the pb, but i kind of want marvel to recast betty if only cos it would be funny to have yet another hulk recast).

yeah, we are made from star death excrecense, you should be able to get into bio stuff. that reminds me of that lawrence krauss quote: "so, forget jesus. stars died so you could live." but yeah, though a little jargony peppering can make posts feel more legit and be fun, there's no need to worry too much over it. promise i'll never fact check you. it's not as though marvel bothers to fact check, 99.9975% of the time. and another recast would be funny, yeah. feel free to recast her yourself, if you'd like. i really liked tyler's betty because she was such an odd, understated mix of soft-spoken breathy mother-hen and bamf, but i'm not dead set or anything. anyway, NO PRESSURE

I'm totally imagining Jane directing Hulk to place these big ass sarsen stones and it's beautiful. Of course, they could have a hand in the construction more than one mysterious historical monument.

i don't know. i kind of went brain dead while i read about mitosis. but i'll get through it. tbh i find tyler's soft spoken voice to be grating, but i'll keep her as the pb since i can't think of another black-haired, blue-eyed woman who's mature looking enough.

haha yeah i was thinking that since stonehenge was built during the convergence, that perhaps jane and the hulk built it to utilize the gravitational anomalies to get back home. or smth like that blah blah blah magic blah blah blah science

Mia Kirshner would make a good Betty, I think. Or ... Jennifer Carpenter, if you're tending more toward bamf than mother hen? Maybe even Rooney Mara, with the right hair? maybe mara is a little young, idk. But there are a few out there who could work.

naw, liv tyler is perf. i think she's really pretty and i loved how she portrayed betty. i just, y'know — think that her voice can be too soft and too low sometimes, and that can get a little annoying after all. but she's great and it's great. (btw i saw this and i was like, "no.")

Or do you wanna brush up more and then talk about all that? I'm still brushing up, too. Banner's a pretty new muse. Gonna get around to reading The Incredible Hulk novelization sooner or later. Probably sooner now that you made that journal.

uh. pre-canon stuff (when bruce is happy and not a negative nancy), hsau (betty and bruce being cute high schoolers omg), post-avengers, pre-avengers 2, we could definitely do red she-hulk stuff (once i read up on it and think how that could happen in the mcu), uh....

since we're both brushing up on the characters, i definitely don't think we should do anything MAJOR. but we can do some little things like... them texting or pre-canon situations. i still need to properly set up betty's account (finding icons, begging people to make icons, etc), but threading and doing stuff with them would help the most :'3

Precanon would be great because I've been meaning to think a little more and maybe write some about Bruce's feelings toward the fact that he can't really get decent funding for his work anywhere but through the military, and to get a better handle on his anti-authoritarian leanings, but yeah after school SCIENCE CLUB HS AU would be fun.

and hey, he's not a negative nancy! he's a pragmatic nancy. Post-avengers I think Bruce would be a little less emotionally blah and sad than post-Hulk, pre-avengers, ... but he'd still be pulling the stoic 'I'm too dangerous, let me just keep my distance' thing, obv. That act has groundings that go farther than the Culver incident, after all, and afterwards it's just so logical it sticks. Also by that time he's well used to the idea that he's just not fit for intimate human companionship and should instead devote his life to something a little nobler and y'know more ascetic, so. He'd probably be distant but personable? And encourage her to have a life away from his and Hulk's drama. The She-Hulk stuff we can save for later when we're better versed in all this

ESPECIALLY since, you know, banner wasn't aware of the military's true intentions with his research. yeah, that'll definitely help him with his anti-authoritative feelings. omg bruce is that crazy, scary guy every high school has and betty just floats by on science and rainbows. and she asks about his scientific interests and is completely interested and unafraid of bruce, even among whispers of "hey if anyone's gonna shoot up the school it's gonna be banner." ahhhhh cutie pies :3c

a pragmatic patty? bullshit. even steve's like, "wow dude. you're killing my buzz." well i think betty's going roll her eyes and tell him that she tried getting away from him and that clearly didn't work so we're both devoting our lives to a noble and ascetic cause.

it's been a while since i wrote a teenaged char, lol. and i don't think I've ever written a teen as screwed up as bruce. i mean he actually ends up getting expelled for planting a bomb in the basement of the school in one of the comics lol/sob. should be ... fun??

yeah it's v sad. and part of the reason i like bruce and hulk as a characters even though they're cray outlandish what with the green and the bulk and the funny science. they're like this really sad story about cycles of violence (bruce's grandad had a temper, too) ... and a dude doing his best to break out of them, having setbacks, trying again. rising about your circumstances, solid stuff. also in bruce's defense he only got caught cause he went back to diffuse that thing last minute lol

i think tony and/or betty would coerce bruce to join the science club and attend the meetings. jane's there marveling about astronomy and loki's also there, glaring at everyone. ofc bruce is the underachieving member of the club and attends it once in a while but look, he's in the yearbook photo.
