This is Penelope 'Nel' Apple. She's an OC that sprang up after a conversation I had on plurk with a friend about creepypasta stories and how all of their issues would be solved if they just turned in the murder-tape/file/told people about the murder basement instead of poking around in it.
I had this idea for a 22 year old beauty school student who could see/talk to ghosts, sort of like Odd Thomas, but instead of helping the ghosts, she'd really just rather get through this manicure final, thanks, so please get the actual fuck out of her mirror.
Not that she doesn't want to help. She's just very gun-shy about it due to almost dying while solving her neighbors murder when she was seventeen. Malevolent ghosts are a bitch and being thrown into an ice cold raging river by one isn't all that wonderful, either.
Her abilities are very new to her, they sprang up on her 16th birthday and at first it was all fun and games, talking to grandma and grandpa, that nice woman who lived four houses down and died when she was three. But actually *solving* a murder was too easy to pass up, until it got bad.
Now she does what she can to ignore murder tapes dropped at her house by unknown people, ignores weird urges to poke around places she shouldn't.
Yes, the people in her life know about her abilities and why she doesn't use them. They're kinda for it that she doesn't use them to solve murders, too.
For her sister: Since I picked Elizabeth Olsen as PB and noticed she looks quite similar to Maggie Gyllenhaal, I'd like Maggie as Penelope's big sister. I'm vaguely thinking she's about years old and happily married with a kid either already around or on the way. None of that is binding, except maybe the PB
Boyfriend: No PB ideas, nothing really solid here except they were high school sweethearts and good friends before they got together. Vaaaguely leaning towards Andrew Garfield, but again, not binding.
Dad: Really no preference here, either.
