Long story short, I love the book but I also think this cast is adorable, so was struck by the idea of modern au where their faces could be used. Basic premise is that the Durin line's Mining and Metalworking company, Erebor Inc, was sniped by Smaug and many loyal staff and organizers laid off. The Blue Mountains is a mining town where a great deal of those laid off including Thorin and family now live and work, and the company of Thorin Oakenshield is essentially a self-proclaimed mining industry union striving to help get the company back but mostly drinking after work and being rowdy, short, hairy miners. Cue Bilbo the unlikely accountant hero. I already have a Fili and probably have a Bofur but otherwise.... <3

Is it a modern magick setting or mundane? Gollum only fits in if curses and the like exist.
